manufacturer of quality life safety systems. Headquartered in
Northford, Connecticut, Fire-Lite employs more than 600 people and
operates in a 302,000 square-foot state-of-the-art manufacturing

Founded in 1952, Fire-Lite was the first company to
introduce addressable fire alarm systems to the market. Today,
Fire-Lite manufactures low-to-mid sized fire alarm control
communicators, remote power supplies, annunciators and voice evacuation
products. Most recently, Fire-Lite introduced the MS-9200UD Addressable
Control Panel and the ACC-25/50ZS Voice Evacuation Panel.
For
nearly a decade the acclaimed Fire-Lite Academy has provided industry
professionals with complimentary training on basic fire alarm
technology and Fire-Lite products. The Fire-Lite Academy offers
hands-on workshops throughout the country, which expose students to a
variety of practical applications.
The MS-9200UD, the latest
addition to Fire-Lite's family of addressable panels, includes an
integral remote upload download communicator which allows for reporting
of all system activity to a remote monitoring location. Using a
Windows®-based software package, the installer can create the systems
programming and can load the information into the panel in less than
two minutes, minimizing on-site time. Like the MS-9600, this new panel
is also unique in the addressable market due to the strength of its
smoke detector line, including Fire-Lite's new addressable heat and
duct detectors and full line of monitor and control modules.
Fire-Lite's
new Audio Command Center 25/50 is a versatile single or dual circuit
Emergency Voice Evacuation Control Panel (EVAC) that is ideal for
schools, auditoriums, dormitories, theaters, restaurants, places of

Von Duprin –
Von
Duprin was started in 1908, when it introduced the first "panic release
bar" in response to a need for protecting life safety while providing
security, a purpose that still guides the firm today. Indianapolis
hardware salesman Carl Prinzler missed a scheduled visit to Chicago's
Iroquois Theatre in 1903, thus escaping a disaster in which 594 people
perished when the "fireproof" theater burned. Obsessed with the
needless loss of lives, Prinzler was determined to solve the problem of
public buildings that often turned into death traps when doors were
locked to keep gate crashers out. Prinzler teamed up with his neighbor,
Henry DuPont, an architectural engineer, who invented the first working
device. The initial model, introduced in 1908, was marketed by Vonnegut
Hardware Company under the name Von Duprin, a contraction of Vonnegut,
DuPont and Prinzler.
The popular 88 Series crossbar exit
devices still manufactured by Von Duprin have similar appearance
characteristics to the original design, although significant enginering
changes have been made.
Currently, Von Duprin manufactures the
widest range of exit devices and outside trim operations, including
rim-type and mortise lock, surface and concealed vertical rod,
fire-rated and several electrical options. Security-related products
include a full line of electromagnetic locks, electric strikes, card
readers, and keypad-type access control systems.
